Match report of Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers


Kolkata Knght Riders started their 2010 IPL campaign with a win against Deccan Chargers.It was a dramatic pull back made by the Riders in the last 10 overs in both the innings.Deccan after wining the toss elected to field first.It was Vass who proved in his first over that the descion was a right one by sending Manoj Tiwary on the first ball and Dada soon after in the first over.Hodge and Pujara though pull back the game by adding 31 runs on the board.But RP Singh took Pujara on a ball which became slow due to the surface and Hodge was also send back by Jashprakan Singh soon.Riders were once again send back to the dark patch.But a healthy partnership from Owasis Shah and Angelo Mathews brought Riders on track.Both of them scored half centuries and a century stand between them took Riders to a respectable total of 161 for 4.In last 10 overs both of them scored over 100 runs without losing a wicket.Chargers were set on their charge by Gilchrist and Laksman.In no time they scored 61 runs.Gilchrist was dropped on 2runs by Brad Hodge in slip and in the middle stage of his innings by Charl Langaveldt.Murali Kartik send Laksman to dug out in his first over.But Riders were never in the match when boom boom Gilchrist was going on but soon after his deperture from the crease Chargers middle order were send off by the Riders bowler.Rohit Sharma the hero of IPL 2 for Deccan Chargers played an unusual short against Mathews to get out.Riders got 6 wckets of Deccan Chargers in the last 10 overs of the match by giving less than 60 runs.After that it was only Korbo Lorbo Jethbore for the Riders and they won the match by 11 runs.
